Our Values at Care with Lewis
Care with Lewis is rooted in the belief that care should be skilled, affirming, and humane, not rushed, extractive, or inaccessible. This practice exists at the intersection of care and justice, where emotional support is offered with integrity, respect, and accountability.
Care is not a performance or a transaction here. It is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in attentiveness to the nervous system, identity, and lived experience. Whether working with children, teens, or adults, care means moving at a pace that supports safety, consent, and dignity. It means honoring complexity without forcing resolution, and offering support that is both tender and boundaried.
Access is a commitment, not a promise without limits. Care with Lewis offers sliding scale pricing to reduce financial barriers and to make support possible across different life circumstances. Access also means cultural responsiveness, identity-affirming practice, and meeting people where they are, without requiring them to justify their needs or disclose more than they choose.
Access is held with trust, and access-rate spaces are offered with intention so that care remains available to those navigating financial transition, instability, or systemic harm.
Sustainability ensures that care can continue. This practice is designed to support long-term availability, not short-term depletion. Sustainable care means honoring capacity, setting clear boundaries, and ensuring that the labor of care is not undervalued or overextended.
Sliding scale rates are balanced with sustainability so that Care with Lewis can remain present, reliable, and responsive—especially for communities that are often asked to carry care without support.
Care, access, and sustainability are not competing values here. They are held together with honesty and intention. When these values are balanced, care becomes something that can be returned to again and again—without harm, resentment, or burnout.
This is care that lasts.
Is this babysitting or therapy?
This is therapeutic-style childcare. I offer developmentally supportive, trauma-informed play sessions that center emotional intelligence and regulation. It’s not psychotherapy, but it is intentional, attuned care.
Do you work with neurodivergent children?
Yes. I support children with different regulation styles, sensory needs, and temperaments. Sessions are flexible, child-led, and responsive.
What if my child has big feelings or meltdowns?
Big feelings are welcome here. I focus on co-regulation, safety, and helping children feel understood, not punished or rushed.
Do you bring materials?
Yes. I bring a small play kit with art, sensory, and mindfulness tools, tailored to your child’s age and needs.
Do parents stay during sessions?
That’s up to you and your child’s comfort. Some families prefer to stay nearby, others step out. We can decide together.
Is this therapy?
This is therapeutic coaching: trauma-informed, psychology-informed support focused on tools, reflection, and real-life application. I don’t diagnose or provide clinical treatment.
Do you work with LGBTQ+ and trans clients?
Yes. This practice is explicitly identity-affirming. You don’t need to explain or justify who you are here.
Do you support polyamorous relationships?
Yes. I support people navigating non-monogamy, boundaries, communication, and attachment without judgment or pathologizing.
Can coaching help with burnout and power dynamics?
Absolutely. Many clients come to unpack workplace harm, racialized stress, community burnout, and decision fatigue.
Do you offer sliding scale?
I hold a limited number of sliding scale spots each month. You can note this in your intake form.
What is your cancellation policy?
Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are typically charged, except in emergencies. This protects the care container for everyone involved.
What if I’m not sure which service is right for me?
That’s okay. Book a consult or send an inquiry and we’ll figure it out together.
